Are You Religious?

Pentax Optio S50

"It happened that Jesus walked through the wheat fields on a sabbath. His disciples were hungry, and began to pcik some heads of wheat and crush them to eat the grain. When the Pharisees noticed this, they said to Jesus, 'Look at your disciples; they are doing what is prohibited on the Sabbath!'

"Jesus answered, 'Have you not read what David did when he and his men were hungry? He went into the house of God, and they ate the bread offered to God, although neither he nor his men had the right to eat it, but only the priests. And have you not read in the Law that on the Sabbath the priests in the Temple break the Sabbath rest, yet they are not guilty?

"'It tell you, there is greather than the Temple here. If you really knew the meaning of the words: It is mercy I want, not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the innocent.

"'Besides the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.'"

MATTHEW 12:1-8

"Remind me always, Lord, that it is obedience to You,
and not sacrificae, that pleases You."

you do not do my will says the Lord almighty and I will not accept a sacrifice at your hands; for from the rising of the sun to its setting my name is glorified among the Gentiles and incense is offered to my name; and a pure offering, for great is my name among the Gentiles says the Lord almighty. (Malachi 1:10-11)

St. Justin Martyr a.d.155 -- By these words [of Malachi] he then speaks of those Gentiles, namely us, who in every place offer sacrifices to him, that is, the bread of the Eucharist and also the cup of the Eucharist (Dialogue against Trypho the Jew 41)

St. Ignatius of Antioch a.d.107 -- Make certain, therefore, that you all observe one common Eucharist; for there is but one Body of our Lord Jesus Christ, and but one cup of union with his Blood, and one single altar of sacrifice - even as there is but one bishop with his clergy....

St. Paul's first Letter to the Corinthians -
the chalice of benediction which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not communion of the body of Christ?...Brothers and sisters, I have received from the Lord Jesus Christ what I have also handed on to you. That on the night He was betrayed He took bread...
