Just When You Need It Most

Amazing Race: Helping HandPentax Optio S50

"Mary then set out for a town in the Hills of Judah. She entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leapt in her womb. Elizabeth was filled with holy spirit, and giving a loud cry, said, 'You are most blessed among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb! How is it that the mother of my Lord comes to me? The moment your greeting sounded in my ears, the baby within me suddenly leapt for joy. Blessed are you who believed that the Lord's word would come true!'

"And Mary said:
'My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit exults in God my savior!
He has looked upon his servant in her lowliness,
and people forever will call me blessed.
The Mighty One has done great things for me,
Holy is his Name!
From age to age his mercy extends
to those who live in his presence.
He has acted with power and done wonders,
and scattered the proud with their plans.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones
and lifted up those who are downtrodden.
He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.
He held out his hand to Israel, his servant,
for he remembered his mercy,
even as he promised our fathers,
Abraham and his descendants forever.'

"Mary remained with Elizabeth about three months and then returned home."

More To Life

The Panoly, Boracay SunsetCanon EOS 350D, f13, 1/320 sec

"From Miletus Paul sent word to Epehsus, summoning the elders of the Church. When they came to him, he addressed them, 'You know how I lived among you from the first day I set foot in the province of Asia, how I served the Lord in humility through the sorrows and trials that the Jews caused me. You know that I never held back from doing anything that could be useful for you; I spoke publicly and in your homes and urged Jews and non-Jews alike to turn to God and believe in our Lord Jesus.

"'But now I am going to Jerusalem, chained by the Spirit, without knowing what will happen to me there. Yet in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that imprisonment and troubles await me. Indeed I put no value on my life, if only I can finish my race and complete the service to which I have been assigned by the Lord Jesus, to announce the good news of God's grace.

"'I now feel sure that none of you among whom I have gone about proclaiming the Kingdom of God will ever see me again. Therefore I declare to you this day that my conscience is clear with regard to all of you. For I have spared no effort in fully declaring to you God's will.'"

Echoing Thru The Centuries

Paoay ChurchCanon S45, f5.6, 1/636 sec

"Therefore I, the prisoner of Christ, invite you to live the vocation you have received. Be humble, kind, patient, and bear with one another in love.

"Make every effort to keep among you the unity of Spirit through bonds of peace. Let there be one body and one spirit, for God, in calling you, gave the same Spirit to all. One Lord, one faith, one baptism. One God, the Father of all, who is above all and works through all and is in all.

"But to each of us divice grace is given according to the measure of Christ's gift. Therefore it is said: When he ascended to the heights, he brought captives and gave his gifts to people.

"He ascended: This refers to the one who first descended to the dead in the lower parts of the world. He himself who went down, then ascended far above all the heavens to fill all things. As for his gifts, to some he gave to be apostles, to others prophets, or even evangelists, or pastors and teachers. So he prepared those who belong to him for the ministry, in order to build up the Body of Christ. Thus we shall become the perfect Man, upon reaching maturity and sharing the fullness of Christ."

Ask Him

PrayingCanon EOS 350D, f1.8, 1/2 sec

"When that day comes you will not ask me anything. Truly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give you. So far you have not asked in my Name; ask and receive that your joy may be full.

"I taught you all this in veiled language, but the time is coming when I shall no longer speak in veiled language, but will tell you plainly of the Father.

"When that day comes, you will ask in my Name and it will not be for me to ask the Father for you, for the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and you believe that I came from the Father. In Jesus' Time

SIMS 2 Character Growing Up
"'A little while and you will see me no more; and then a little while, and you will see me.'

"Some of the disciples wondered, 'What does he mean by: "A little while and you will not see me, and then a little while and you will see me"? And why did he say: "I go to the Father"?' And they said to one another, 'What does he mean by "a little while"? We don't understand.'

"Jesus knew that they wanted to question him; so he said to them, 'You are puzzled because I told you that in a little while you will see me no more, and then a little while later you will see me.

Better Half

Puto at DinuguanFrom www.goldilocks.com.ph

"Paul was taken as far as Athens by his escort, who then returned to Beroea with instructions for Silas and Timothy to come to him as soon as possible.

"Then Paul stood up in the Aeropagus hall and said, 'Athenian citizens, I note that in every way you are very religious. As I walked around looking at your shrines, I even discovered an altar with this inscription: To an unknown God. Now, what you worship as unknown, I intend to make known to you.

"'God, who made the world and all that is in it, does not dwell in sanctuaries made by human hands, being as he is Lord of heaven and earth. Nor does his worship depend on anything made by human hands, as if he were in need. Rather it is he who gives life and breath and everything else to everyone. From one stock he created the whole human race to live throughout all the earth, and he fixed the time and the boundaries of each nation. He wanted them to seek him by themselves, even if it were only by groping for him, and eventually to find him.

"'Yet he is not far from any one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being, as some of your poets have our being, as some of your poets have said: for we too are his offspring. If we are indeed God's offspring, we ought not to think of divinity as something like statue of gold or silver or stone, a product of human art and imagination.

"But now God prefers to overlook this time of ignorance and he calls on all people to change their ways. He has already set a day on which he will judge the world with justice through a man he has appointed. And, so that all may believe it, he has just given a sign by raising this man from the dead.'

"When they heard Paul speak of a resurrection from death, some made fun of him, while others said, 'We must hear you on this topic some other time.' At that point Paul left. But a few did join him, and believed. Among them were Dionysius, a member of the Areopagus court, a woman named Damaris, and some others.

"After this, Paul left Athens and went to Corinth."

"On the sabbath we went outside the city gate to the bank of the river where we thought the Jews would gather to pray. We sat down and began speaking to the women who were gathering there. One of them was a God-fearing woman named Lydia from Thyatira City, a dealer in purple cloth.

Question Mark
"As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; remain in my love. You will remain in my love if you keep my commandments, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and remain in his love.

"I have told you all this, that my own joy may be in you and your joy may be complete. This is my commandment: love one another as I have loved you. There is no greater love than this, to give one's life for one's friends; and you are my friends if you do what I command you.

"I shall not call you servants any more, because servants do not know what their master is about. Instead I have called you friends, since I have made known to you everything I learned from my Father.

"You did not choose me; it was I who chose you and sent you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last. And everything you ask the Father in my name, he will give you.

"Paul traveled on to Derbe and then to Lystra. A disciple named Timothy lived there, whose mother was a believer of Jewish origin but whose father was a Greek. As the believers at Lystra and Iconium spoke well of him, Paul wanted Timothy to accompany him. So he took him and, because of the Jews of that place who all knew that his father was a Greek, he circumcised him.

"As they traveled from town to town, they delivered the decisions of the apostles and elders in Jerusalem, for the people to obey. Meanwhile, the churches grew stronger in faith and increased in number every day.

"They traveled trhough Phrygia and Galatia, because they had been prevented by the Holy Spirit from preaching the message in the province of Asia. When they came to Mysia, they tried to go on to Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them to do this. So, passing by Mysia, they went down to Troas.

"There one night Paul had a vision. A Macedonian stood before him and begged him, 'Come over to Macedonia and help us!' When he awoke, he told us of this vision and we understood that the Lord was calling us to give the Good News to the Macedonian people."

Unclutter The Heart

"Then the apostles and elders together with the whole Church decided to choose representatives from among them to send to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. These were Judas, known as Barsabbas, and Silas, both leading men among the brothers. They took with them the following letter:

"Greetings from the apostles and elders, your brothers, to the believers of non-Jewish birth in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia. We have heard that some persons from among us have worried you with their discussions and troubled your peace of mind. They were not appointed by us. But now, it has seemed right to us in an assembly, to choose representatives and to send them to you, along with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, who have dedicated their lives to the service of our Lord Jesus Christ. We send you then Judas and Silas who themselves will give you these instructions by word of mouth.

"We, with the Holy Spirit, have decided not to put any other burden on you except what is necessary: You are to abstain from blood from the meat of strangled animals and from prohibited marriages. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell.

"After saying good-bye, the messengers went to Antioch, where they assembled the community and handed them the letter. When they read the news, all were delighted with the encouragement it gave them."

Fruits From The Branch

Pahiyas Festival at Lucban, QuezonCanon S45

"I am the true vine and my Father is the vinegrower. If any of my branches doesn't bear fruit, he breaks it off; and he prunes every branch that does not bear fruit, that it may bear even more fruit.

"You are already made clean by the word I have spoken to you; live in me as I live in you. The branch cannot bear fruit by itself but has to remain part of the vine; so neither can you if you don't remain in me.

"I am the vine and you are the branches. As long as you remain in me and I in you, you bear much fruit; but apart from me you can do nothing. Whoever does not remain in me is thrown away as they do with branches and they wither. Then they are gathered and thrown into the fire and burned.

Worth It

The Panoly, BoracayCanon EOS 350D, f5.0, 1/1002 sec

"They were there teaching some time. But some Jews arrived from Antioch and Iconium to argue with Paul and Barnabas. They persuaded the people to reject them, saying that all this was untrue. Finally they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the town, leaving him for dead. But when his disciples gathered around him, he stood up and returned to the town. And the next day, he left for Derbe with Barnabas.

"After proclaiming the Gospel in that town and making many disciples, they returned to Lystra and Iconium and on to Antioch. They were strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain firm in the faith, for they said, 'We must go through many trials to enter the Kingdom of God.' In each church they appointed elders and, after praying and fasting, they commended them to the Lord in whom they had placed their faith.

"Then they traveled through Pisidia, and came to Pamphylia. They preached the Word in Perga and went down to Attalia. From there they sailed back to Antioch, where they had first been commended to God's grace for the task they had now completed.

"On their arrival they gathered the Church together and told them all that God had done through them and how he had opened the door of faith to the non-Jews. They spent a fairly long time there with the disciples."

"Judas--not the Iscariot--asked Jesus, 'Lord, how can it be that you will show yourself clearly to us and not to the world?' Jesus answered him, 'If anyone loves me, he will keep my word and my Father will love him; and we will come to him and make a room in his home. But if anyone does not love me, he will not keep my words, and these words that you hear are not mine but the Father's who sent me.

He told them also how Saul had preached boldly in the name of Jesus.

"Then Saul began to live with them. He moved about freely in Jerusalem and preached opnely in the name of the Lord. He also spoke to the Hellenists and argued with them, but they wanted to kill him. When the believers learned of this, they took him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus.

"All that I say to you, I do not say of myself. The Father who dwells in me is doing his own work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; at least believe it on the evidence of these works that I do.

"Truly, I say to you, the one who believes in me will do the same works that I do; and he will even do greater than these, for I am going to the Father. Judging Amy
"From Paphos, Paul and his companions set sail and came to Perga in Pamphylia. There John left them and returned to Jerusalem while they went on from Perga and came to Antioch in Pisidia. On the sabbath day they entered the synagogue and sat down. After the reading of the Law and the Prophets, the officials of the synagogue sent this message to them, 'Brothers, if you have any word of encouragement for the assembly, please speak up.'

"So Paul arose, motioned to them for silence and began, 'Fellow Israelites and also all you who fear God, listen. The God of our people Israel chose our ancestors, and after he had made them increase during their stay in Egypt, he led them out by powerful deeds. For forty years he fed them in the desrt, and after he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave them their land as an inheritance. So all this took four hundred and fifyt years. After that, he gave them Judges until Samuel the prophet. Then they asked for a king and God gave them Saul, son of Kish, of the tribe of Benjamin, and he was king for forty years. After that time, God removed him and raised up David as king, to whom he bore witness saying: I have found David, the son of Jesse, a man after my own heart, who will do all I want him to do.

"It is from the descendants of David that God has now raised up the promised savior of Israel, Jesus. Before he appeared, John proclaimed a baptism of repentance for all the people of Israel. As John was ending his life's work, he said: 'I am not what you think I am, for after me another one is coming whose sandal I am not worthy to untie.'"

Finding His Voice

Lining-up in GraduationCanon S45

"The time came for the feast of the Dedication. It was winter and Jesus walked back and forth in the portico of Solomon. The works I do in my Father's name proclaim who I am, but you don't believe because, as I said, you are not my sheep.

"My sheep hear my voice and I know them; they follow me and I give them eternal life. They shall never perish and no one will ever steal them from me. What the Father has given me is stronger than everything and no one can snatch it from the Father's hand. I and the Father are one.'"

Benefit of the Doubt

From www.cluthadc.govt.nz

"News came to the apostles and the brothers and sisters in Judea that even foreigners had received the Word of God. So, when Peter went up to Jerusalem, these Jewish believers began to argue wiht him, 'You went to the home of uncircumcised people and ate with them!'

"So Peter began to give them the facts as they had happened, 'I was at prayer in the city of Joppa when, in a trance, I saw a vision. Something like a large sheet came down from the sky and drew near to me, landing on the ground by its four corners. As I stared at it, I saw four-legged creatures of the earth, wild beasts and reptiles, and birds of the sky. Then I heard a voice saying to me: 'Get up, Peter, kill and eat!' I replied, 'Certainly not, Lord! No common or unclean creature has ever entered my mouth.' A second time the voice from the heavens spoke, 'What God has made clean, you must not call unclean.' This happened three times, and then it was all drawn up into the sky. At that moment three men, who had been sent to me from Caesaria, arrived at the house where we were staying. The Spirit instructed me to go with them without hesitation; so these six brothers came along with me and we entered into the man's house. He told us how he had seen an angel standing in his house and telling him: Send someone to Joppa and fetch Simon, also known as Peter. He will bring you a message by which you and all your household will be saved.'

"I had begun to address them when suddenly the Holy Spirit came upon them, just as it had come upon us at the beginning. Then I remembered what the Lord had said: 'John baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.' If then, God had given them the same gift that he had given us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to resist God?'

"When they heard this they set their minds at rest and praised God saying, 'Then God has granted life-giving repentance to the pagan nations as well.'"

Blessing of Wet and Dry Market
"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives his life for the sheep. Not so the hired hand or any other person who is not the shepherd and to whom the sheep do not belong. They abandon the sheep as soon as they see the wolf coming; then the wolf snatches and scatters the sheep. This is because the hired hand works for pay and cares nothing for the sheep.

"I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, as the Father knows me and I know the Father. Because of this I give my life for my sheep.

"I have other sheep that are not of this fold. These I have to lead as well, and they shall listen to my voice. Then there will be one flock since there is one Shepherd.

What The Heart Holds

Wedding at the National Shrine of the Sacred Heart of JesusCanon S45

"After hearing this, many of Jesus' followers said, 'This language is very hard! Who can accept it?'

"Jesus was aware that his disciples were murmuring about this and so he said to them, 'Does this offend you? Then how will you react when you see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh cannot help. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. But among you there are some who do not believe.'

"From the beginning, Jesus knew who would betray him. So he added, 'As I have told you, no one can come to me unless it is granted by the Father.'

"After this many disciples withdrew and no longer followed him. Jesus asked the Twelve, 'Will you also go away?' Peter answered him, ' Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We now believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.'"

"As he traveled along and was approaching Damascus, a light from the sky suddenly flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, 'Saul! Saul! Why do you persecute me?' And he asked, 'Who are you, Lord?' The voice replied, 'I am Jesus whom you persecute. Now get up and go into the city; thre you will be told what you are to do.'

"The men who were traveling with him stood there speechless: they had heard the sound, but could see no one. Saul got up from the ground and, opening his eyes, he could not see. They took him by the hand and brought him to Damascus. He was blind and he did not eat or drink for three days.

"There was a disciple in Damascus named Ananias, to whom the Lord called in a vision, 'Ananias! He answered, 'Here I am, Lord!' Then the Lord said to him, 'Go at once to Straight Street and ask, at the house of Judas, for a man of Tarsus named Saul. You will find him praying, for he has just seen in a vision that man named Ananias has come in and placed his hands upon him, to restore his sight.'

"Ananias answered, 'Lord, I have heard from many sources about this man and all the harm he has done to your saints in Jerusalem, and now he is here with authority from the High Priest to arrest all who call upon your name.' But the Lord said to him, 'Go! This man is my chosen instrument to bring my name to the pagan nations and their kings, and the people of Israel as well. I myself will show him how much he will have to suffer for my name.'

"So Ananias left and went to the house. He laid his hands upon Saul and said, 'Saul, my brother, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to yhou on your way here has sent me to you so that you may receive your sight and be filled with Holy Spirit.' Immediately something like scales fell from his eyes and he could see; he got up and was baptized. Then he took food and was strengthened.

"For several days Saul stayed with the disciples at Damascus, and he soon began to procalim in the synagogues that Jesus was the Son of God."

Take This Bread

Host

From www.oplatki.com

"No one can come to me unless he is drawn by the Father who sent me, and I will raise him up on the last day. It has been written in the Prophets: They shall all be taught by God. So whoever listens and learns from the Father comes to me.

"For no one has seen the Father except the One who comes from God; he has seen the Father. Truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life.

"I am the bread of life. Though your ancestors ate the manna in the desrt, they died. But here you have the bread which comes from heaven so that you may eat of it and not die.

"I am the living bread which has come from heaven; whoever eats of this bread will live forever. The bread I shall give is my flesh and I will give it for the life of the world."

JOHN 6:44-51

In Jesus Name

Scripture

"Jesus said, 'I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but through me. If you know me, you wil know the Father also; indeed you know him and you have seen him.'

"Philip asked him, 'Lord, show us the Father and that is enough.' Jesus said to him, 'What! I have been with you so long and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever sees me sees the Father; how can you say: "Show us the Father?" Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?

"All that I say to you, I d onot say of myself.

Everything you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorifed in the Son. And everything you ask in calling upon my Name, I will do.

"If you love me, you will keep my cmmandments; and I will ask the Father an he will give you another Helper to be with you forever."

A Church Tested

Other beliefs, theories
"'But you are a stubborn people, you hardened your hearts and closed your ears. You have always resisted the Holy Spririt just as your fathers did. Was there a prophet whom your ancestors did not persecute? They killed those who announced the coming of the Just One whom you have now betrayed and murdered, you who received the Law through the angels but did not fulfill it.'

"When they heard this reproach, they were enraged and they gnashed their teeth against Stephen. But he, full of the Holy Spirit, fixed his eyes on heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus at God's right hand, so he declared: 'I see the heavens open and the Son of Man at the right hand of God.'

"But they shouted and covered their ears with their hands and rushed together upon him. They brought him out of the city and stoned him, and the witnesses laid down their cloaks at the feet of a young man named Saul. As they were stoning him, Stephen prayed saying: 'Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.' Then he knelt down and said in a loud voice: 'Lord, do not hold this sin against them.' And when he had said this, he died.

"Saul was there, approving his murder. This was the beginning of a great persecution against the Church in Jerusalem. All, except the apostles, were scattered throughout the region of Judea and Samaria."

ACTS 7:51-8:1

False Witness

Law and Order
"God said, 'Let us make man in our image, to our likeness. Let them rule over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, over the cattle, over the wild animals, and over all creeping things that crawl along the ground.' So God created man in his image; in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, 'Be fruitful and increase in number, fill the earth and subdue it, rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the sky, over every living creature that moves on the ground.'

"God said, 'I have given you every seed-bearing plan which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree that bears fruit swith seet. It will be for your food. To every wild animal, to every bird of the sky, to everything that creeps along the ground, to everything that has the breath of life, I give every green plan for food.' So it was.

"God saw all that he had made and it was very good. There was evening and there was morning: the sixth day.

"That was the way the sky and earth were created and all their vast array. By the seventh day the work God had done was completed and he rested on the seventh day from all the work he had done. And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on that day he rested from all the work he had done in his creation."

GENESIS 1:26-2:3

"Jesus Christ who is the Son of God
was sentenced to die because of false witness.
No wonder human beings experience the same."
